Cob Oven and Rocket Stove Workshop: May 30-31st, 2015, 9am-4:30pm
Sliding Scale Donation $50, Lunch provided free for those volunteering for two weeks or more
Come learn about cob, a superb natural building material; it is abundant and cheap, molds to unique shapes, can be a source of insulation or thermal mass, and is relatively easy to learn! We will be using clay found on site to build a cob oven and a rocket stove for our outdoor kitchen under the instruction of local Hazelnuts, Chris Zazula and Chris Timms. Rocket stoves are super efficient, utilizing air flow and chamber design to create a stove that completely burns fuel with almost no heat loss. We hope to not only get you enthusiastic about cob, but impart the knowledge and know-how to get you started on your own projects.
